Atomicdust Honored with AIGA Design Leadership Award

Every year, AIGA Saint Louis’s Annual Meeting brings people together for presentations, hors d’oeuvres, and a chance to reflect on a year’s worth of design achievements in our region. It’s also an opportunity to recognize local organizations that have made an impact on (or through) design.

This year’s event took place on December 11 at the Rialto Room at the Centene Center for the Arts, and after all of our hard work around the city’s biggest Design Week ever (spearheaded by our own Mike Spakowski), Atomicdust was grateful to receive a Design Leadership Award.

Mike kicked off the event with a presentation on the process of reimagining (and running) this year’s Design Week. Taking a cue from our friend Aaron Draplin, Mike “turned it up to 11” with a video that demonstrated the scale and success of this year’s event. Keynote speaker Jesse Ragan followed with a talk on the ins and outs of typeface design, including concept, technique and technology.

The AIGA Saint Louis Board also recognized TOKY and Creatives On Call for their contributions to St. Louis design, and honored designer and educator Sarah Birdsall with the 2015 AIGA Fellow Award.

How will St. Louis design have changed by next year’s meeting? It’s never too early to get involved and make an impact of your own. Keep an eye on our blog for upcoming design events.
