AIGA St. Louis Honors the Spark in 11 Atomicdust Web, Design and Identity Projects

We’re incredibly proud that the AIGA St. Louis recently selected 11 Atomicdust projects to be part of this year’s Design Show. Seven out of the 10 websites honored at the show were created right here at Atomicdust.

Check out the complete list of awards Atomicdust won at this year's AIGA Design Show.

Christen Ringhausen Joins the Atomicdust Account Service Team

Please give a warm welcome to the newest member of the Atomicdust team, Christen Ringhausen.

Christen joins our account service team and will be working with directly with clients on a variety of projects. She is a graduate of Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, with a major in mass communication (emphasis on strategic advertising) and minor in music performance and theater.

Like so many of our other recent additions, Christen hails from the east side of the river. She’s from Alton, IL, but has been working in St. Louis for some time. She’s put in time at a handful of other St. Louis agencies as both an intern and a contractor, but is thrilled to settle down here at Atomicdust.

In her spare time, Christen loves to keep them laughing at the STL Improv Shop. She’s also on quests for the best breakfast spot–and the best craft beers–in St. Louis. These, we assume, are two separate searches.

We’re excited to have Christen join us!

Atomicdust’s Anders Branding Featured on Fast Company’s ‘Co.Design’

As you may know, we recently wrapped up a naming, branding and collateral project for Anders, a St. Louis CPA firm. Today, the work was featured on Fast Company’s design website, Co.Design

Here’s a little of what Co.Design had to say about our work:

The official logomark is a sleek, translucent triangle that spins off of the A in Anders. A gradient library of colors change depending on context. That, plus a friendly-looking new website, makes the whole company seem fairly approachable--no small feat for an industry that many of only think about when we absolutely have to.

Fast Company is widely recognized as one of the leading business publications in the world. Its mission is to inspire readers to think beyond traditional boundaries, lead conversation and create the future of business.

We’re big fans of their design website, Co.Design, which highlights the world’s best examples of design and innovation. It’s an incredible honor to see our work on a site that recognizes the importance of design in business. The site is on our must-read-daily list, and is often our go-to source for the latest news and inspiration.

Atomicdust Crafts Branding, Website and Collateral for CPA Firm

You might think that accounting and creativity don’t – or maybe shouldn’t – add up. But when a large St. Louis CPA firm came to us looking for a new identity, Atomicdust was up for the challenge. See the branding, website, and collateral we created for local CPA firm, Anders

Pebble does it right by keeping it (relatively) simple.

Everyone’s talking about smartwatches these days. Rich Heend, our copywriter, got his hands on one of the first entrants to the market, the Pebble. Read his thoughts here.

Branding Work for Pastaria Featured in Communication Arts

There’s an extra-special thrill that comes from having our work recognized by a publication we admire.

Atomicdust’s work for Gerard Craft’s restaurant, Pastaria, was featured in the April, 2013 issue of Communication Arts.

We had known this was coming for a couple of months, but there’s nothing like holding a copy of this in our hands. It’s incredibly humbling to see the Pastaria branding honored alongside so much other great work in a publication we read every month.

Goshen Branding Featured in Gallery: The World’s Best Graphics

The language of design is universal – or at least global. That’s why we were thrilled to learn Atomicdust’s branding and packaging work for Goshen Coffee was featured in the Chois Gallery November, 2012, issue of The World’s Best Graphics.

The publication’s criteria for selection include creative ideas and design execution – two things that are very important to us here at Atomicdust. We’re honored to have our efforts on these fronts recognized internationally alongside some truly stunning work.

Building a Modern Identity and Website for Homeyer

When you think “tool and die manufacturer” the first words that pop into your head probably won’t be “modern” or "high tech.” In most cases, you’d be right. But not if you were talking about Atomicdust client, formerly known as Homeyer Tool and Die.

They came to us looking for a new identity and website to reflect the changing nature of their business. Sure, tool and die work has been the foundation of their company and will always be part of their operation. But it’s dwindling. And they’ve smartly responded by shifting to precision manufacturing for some very demanding industries, like healthcare, military, aviation and energy.

Atomicdust designer Jason Stoff rules Shutterstock’s Pixels of Fury

Last Thursday, our own designer and photographer Jason Stoff took home the top prize at AIGA St. Louis’s first annual Pixels of Fury competition, sponsored by Shutterstock.

Several other cities have hosted Pixels of Fury competitions – but this was a first for St. Louis. It’s dubbed a “live design” competition, pitting eight artists against each other and challenging them to come up with original poster designs from scratch in just 20 minutes.

Which, as Jason experienced first-hand, isn’t much time.

The theme for the night was Design for Good. In round one, participants crafted posters with anti-bullying messages. In round two, they tackled the idea of diversity and inclusion. For the championship round, designers were charged with putting a fresh face on world hunger.

During each round, attendees watched as the artists’ vision unfolded on large screens.

Congratulations, Jason! Big thanks to Shutterstock for sponsoring the event, to AIGA St. Louis for pulling it all together, and to Jacquin Studio Photography for hosting this great event.

UPDATE: Check out the big winner and posters from the event on Shutterstock.
