Atomicdust Wins Gold at the 2013 ADDY Awards

Last Thursday was the 2013 ADDY Awards, presented by Ad Club St. Louis - an opportunity to mix, mingle and, most importantly, celebrate the great marketing and design work in St. Louis from the past year.

Atomicdust was nominated for nine awards, and was honored with three Gold ADDY Awards for the St. Louis Children's Annual Report, St. Louis Design Week Website and Atomicdust Intern Recruitment Video.

St. Louis is home to many talented individuals and agencies, and it was evident that night that as a city, we are producing outstanding work. St. Louis is proving that you don’t have to be on either coast to produce creative, award-worthy marketing and advertising. Some of the other big winners were Rogers Townsend, HLK Agency, Hoffman | Lewis and our Midtown neighbors, TOKY Branding + Design. It was an impressive showing by some of the best and brightest creative minds in the city.

We want to extend a special thanks to Ad Club St. Louis, David Johnson at Coolfire Media, and all of the sponsors for putting together the ADDY Awards and ADDY Week STL, and Plush for hosting us.

Join Atomicdust and AIGA for ‘Insights 2013 Design Lecture Series’

Each Tuesday in March, AIGA Minnesota and the Walker Art Center present Insights 2013 Design Lecture Series - talks by some of the world's most adventurous graphic designers. Each lecture is streamed live on the Walker Channel, and we are helping AIGA bring it to you here in St. Louis.

We're hosting a watch party for the first lecture on Tuesday, March 5, at our office in Midtown. LA-based designer Geoff McFetridge was featured in the film and exhibition Beautiful Losers, and his work has been featured on everything from Nike sneakers and silkscreened wallpapers to to laser-etched illustrations on toast for an OK Go music video

Grab some friends and come over  — we'll dial up the Walker Channel and have beer and snacks. This event is free, but please RSVP on Facebook

Atomicdust Hits the Slopes in Winter Park, Colorado

A wise man once said "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it."

In that spirit, the Atomicdust team headed to Winter Park, Colorado earlier this month. All 17 of us.

Part company retreat, part hanging out, we reflected on what our team has accomplished over the past couple of years, and on where we are headed. We skied, snowtubed, snowmobiled and even tried our hand at snowshoeing (it didn't go very well) - all surrounded by the natural beauty of the Rocky Mountains. Check out our Facebook Page to see more pictures from our trip to Colorado

At Atomicdust, we think it is important to take time to reinvest in our team and our creative culture. Be it a trip across the country, a visit to the Frank Lloyd Wright-design house here in St. Louis or impromptu Friday BBQ lunch it brings us closer together and prepares us for the big projects ahead.

Atomicdust Named a ‘Top 10 Social-Savvy Agency’

Atomicdust was named one of the Top 10 Social-Savvy Agencies in the country by online marketing publication, The Agency Post.

In a nationwide call for entries, our ‘Face Off Against Hunger’ campaign for St. Louis Food Outreach was recognized as one of the ten most compelling social stories.

We’re honored to be named alongside some of the most creative and respected agencies in the business, and even more proud to be one of the few Midwest agencies featured.

The Agency Post wasn’t just looking for increases in followers or likes or views, but for campaigns that "motivated users to engage, connect and care." That’s exactly what happened with ‘Face Off’, and we have the community, the team at Food Outreach and, of course, the incredible creative and social media team at Atomicdust to thank for that.

Steven Brien Gets Creative with Atomicdust

As the newest member of the Atomicdust creative team, Steven Brien will be lending us his problem-solving skills and passion for design.

Steven is a New Orleans native and graduate of Washington University in St. Louis, where he earned a fine arts degree in printmaking and drawing.

Prior to joining Atomicdust, Steven got his hands dirty (literally) at local printmaking studio All Along Press, where he designed and printed posters, books, t-shirts and more. In fact, we first met Steven on a field trip to the studio back in April 2010.

We are excited to have Steven join us, and we wish him luck as he tries to resist the candy bowl and fight off the "Atomicdust 75."

Atomicdust’s Work Shines in Seven RFT ‘Best of the Web’ Categories

This morning, the Riverfront Times announced their nominations for the 2013 RFT Web Awards, and we're ecstatic to not only have Atomicdust nominated, but to have some of our client work recognized as well. Among the nominations were Goshen Coffee Company, Pastaria, STL Design Week and Atomicdust's Face Off Against Hunger Campaign.

Edwardsville's Goshen Coffee Company, which we rebranded this year with new packagaing and website design, was nominated for Best Overall Digital Campaign/Strategy. And the Bean vs Bean Challenge that we created for them was recognized for Best Use of Video for a Business or Organization

Gerard Craft's St. Louis eatery Pastaria swept the 'Website' categories, with nominations for Best Website Design, Best Restaurant Website and Best Mobile Website. In 2012, we worked with Gerard and his team to brand the new restaurant, creating the websites, menus, logo and other collateral.

Also nominated for Best Website Design is the STL Design Week website, which we created with designer Carlos Zamora.

And finally, our Face Off Against Hunger campaign, which raised $4,000 for St. Louis nonprofit Food Outreach, is nominated for Best Use of Social Media for Civic Campaign. Who knew scanning your face on a copy machine could have such an impact!

We also want to congratulate Atomicdust designer/photographer Jason Stoff and developer Annie McCance for their Best Music Blog nominations, for their websites Encor.es and I Went to a Show

We're honored to see our work singled out among thousands of local nominees, and look forward to celebrating the winners on January 22 at the exclusive awards ceremony at Off Broadway.
