‘Honor the Spark’ at the AIGA St. Louis Design Show

A few months ago, AIGA St. Louis asked local marketing, advertising and design professinals to show them what sparks their work and their creativity. The judges - Lotta Nieminen, Aaron Becker and Allan Peters - have waded through and reviewed submissions to uncover the passion projects and pieces from some of the most creative and innovative minds in St. Louis. And now, it's time to unviel that work with a celebration.

Tomorrow night at COCA, celebrate with peers, meet with the judges and 'honor the spark' at the AIGA St. Louis Design Show 18.

The AIGA St. Louis Design Show is an event that we look forward to every year, and we can't wait to mingle with industry friends and view all of the exhibited work produced from this stellar creative community. Learn more about the event and RSVP on Facebook

May Wallpapers from the Creatives at Atomicdust

The month of May is usually characterized by flowers, the beginning of summer BBQs, warmer weather and a fresh batch of wallpapers from the creatives at Atomicdust. Go ahead and download one (or all) of this month's wallpapers for your desktop, phone and tablet, they're sure to brighten up your day!

Christen Ringhausen Joins the Atomicdust Account Service Team

Please give a warm welcome to the newest member of the Atomicdust team, Christen Ringhausen.

Christen joins our account service team and will be working with directly with clients on a variety of projects. She is a graduate of Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, with a major in mass communication (emphasis on strategic advertising) and minor in music performance and theater.

Like so many of our other recent additions, Christen hails from the east side of the river. She’s from Alton, IL, but has been working in St. Louis for some time. She’s put in time at a handful of other St. Louis agencies as both an intern and a contractor, but is thrilled to settle down here at Atomicdust.

In her spare time, Christen loves to keep them laughing at the STL Improv Shop. She’s also on quests for the best breakfast spot–and the best craft beers–in St. Louis. These, we assume, are two separate searches.

We’re excited to have Christen join us!

‘Things We’ve Learned So Far’ - the Slides

Thanks to Midtown Printing

Last year, we did branding and identity work for U.S. Crisis Care, a non-profit organization that helps communities provide support to people affected by sudden traumatic events.

Our good friends at Midtown Printing helped the organization by generously donating labor and printing for some of their promotional collateral.

So a big thank you to Skip Bray and everyone at Midtown Printing for helping out and doing a little good in the world. You rock.

Jesse McGowan Promoted to Atomicdust Partner

We’re pleased to announce the promotion of Account Director Jesse McGowan to partner.

Jesse has been a member of the Atomicdust team for nine years. Brought on board as an intern in 2003, he was hired as an art director four days later. Jesse became account director in 2006, and since then he's led strategy work for the agency. Early on, Jesse’s background in print helped us expand our list of services—and our client list. Working closely with the rest of our leadership team, Jesse shifted the agency into full-service client work, including branding and positioning.

When he isn’t helping clients solve complex marketing puzzles, Jesse loves photography, music, St. Louis craft brewing culture, and spending time with his wife and two sons.

Congratulations, Jesse!

March Wallpapers from Atomicdust

You know what we love about March besides Girl Scout cookies and the first signs of spring? That it has 31 days, so even though we are a little late getting you these wallpapers, you will still have an extra calendar day to enjoy them!

Go ahead and download your favorite Atomicdust-designed wallpaper for your computer, smartphone or tablet. Happy March!

It’s (Another) Boy!

Here's a bit of trivia - All of the children of Atomicdust staff members are boys.

And the trend continues with the birth of John August Dixson

Taylor and his wife, Ellen, welcomed their second son on March 2, 2013. Baby John weighed in at 7 lbs, 8 oz, and both baby and mommy are home and healthy. We think he's the spitting image of his father, Taylor!

Congrats to Taylor, Ellen and big brother Henry!

Join Atomicdust and AIGA for ‘Insights 2013 Design Lecture Series’

Each Tuesday in March, AIGA Minnesota and the Walker Art Center present Insights 2013 Design Lecture Series - talks by some of the world's most adventurous graphic designers. Each lecture is streamed live on the Walker Channel, and we are helping AIGA bring it to you here in St. Louis.

We're hosting a watch party for the first lecture on Tuesday, March 5, at our office in Midtown. LA-based designer Geoff McFetridge was featured in the film and exhibition Beautiful Losers, and his work has been featured on everything from Nike sneakers and silkscreened wallpapers to to laser-etched illustrations on toast for an OK Go music video

Grab some friends and come over  — we'll dial up the Walker Channel and have beer and snacks. This event is free, but please RSVP on Facebook

To learn more about Geoff McFetridge and the rest of the speakers, visit the Walker Art Center website

Atomicdust Hits the Slopes in Winter Park, Colorado

A wise man once said "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it."

In that spirit, the Atomicdust team headed to Winter Park, Colorado earlier this month. All 17 of us.

Part company retreat, part hanging out, we reflected on what our team has accomplished over the past couple of years, and on where we are headed. We skied, snowtubed, snowmobiled and even tried our hand at snowshoeing (it didn't go very well) - all surrounded by the natural beauty of the Rocky Mountains. Check out our Facebook Page to see more pictures from our trip to Colorado

At Atomicdust, we think it is important to take time to reinvest in our team and our creative culture. Be it a trip across the country, a visit to the Frank Lloyd Wright-design house here in St. Louis or impromptu Friday BBQ lunch it brings us closer together and prepares us for the big projects ahead.
