Atomicdust ‘Face Off Against Hunger’ Gallery Show / May 10

A few months ago, we came up with the idea to scan our faces on the Atomicdust copier, post them on Facebook and donate $5 for each scan to St. Louis Food Outreach.

Face Off Against Hunger has been a successful way to give to a great charity while having a little fun at the same time. We’re honored that more than 180 people have scanned their face, including KTVI-Fox 2/KPLR-News 11 and even Mayor Slay.

We don’t want the fun to stop there though.

Everyone is invited to join us at Atomicdust on Thursday, May 10th at 6 p.m. to celebrate the success. We are asking for a $5 donation at the door, with all proceeds going to Food Outreach.

Stop by to check out the gallery of scanned faces, scan your own and enjoy the evening while supporting a great cause.

Street Parking. Beer, wine, soda, snacks and live entertainment will be provided. Please RSVP on Facebook.

Meetup with Jesse to Discuss ‘The Business of Design’

On Tuesday, April 17th, the St. Louis Design Meetup Group will discuss ‘The Business of Design’ at Atomicdust. Jesse McGowan, Account Director at Atomicdust, will highlight the gap between education and actually working for a living, the commoditization of design, and the process of getting bigger, better work.

The St. Louis Design Meetup is a group of area design and illustration professionals interested in networking, collaboration and socializing. Their meetups cover topics related to print, web, interactive, packaging, image and experience design. Their April event, ‘The Business of Design,’ will take place right here at Atomicdust on Tuesday, April 17th.

Atomicdust Showcases Design and History for Koplar Properties

The Koplar family has been a part of real estate development in St. Louis since the 1920s. Mike and Danielle on Panels for ‘SXSTL’

Who needs to travel to Austin for SXSW when our very own Creative Director and Online Marketing Manager are speaking right here in St. Louis at ‘SXSTL’?

SXSTL: A Pre-SXSW Extravaganza is being put on by Social Media Club - St. Louis and St. Louis Women in Media on Tuesday, March 6th at the Moonrise Hotel in St. Louis. The event features three panel discussions covering a variety of topics affecting the marketing and design industries.

Mike Spakowski, Owner and Creative Director at Atomicdust, will share design insight on the "Is Creative Web Design in Jeopardy?" panel. With the widespread acceptance of easy to customize CMS platforms, such as Wordpress, are we running the risk of stifling creativity and innovation in the world of web design? Mike and the panel will discuss the current trends in this platform war, as well as web fonts, mobile and tablet design, and HTML5 adoption.

Danielle Hohmeier, our Online Marketing Manager, will be a panelist for the “Why Pinterest is Winning” discussion. Pinterest is the social media site taking the internet by storm, reaching 10 million users faster than any standalone site in history. The panel will share trends and best practices, discuss Pinterest’s appeal on the personal and professional side, and make wild accusations as to where they see the social site going in 2012.

Don’t forget to stick around for the ‘After Party’ for more discussion, networking and, of course, drinks.

New Faces at Atomicdust

Oh, Illinois. Your loss is our gain! That's right, the two newest employees at Atomicdust both hail from small towns in the Lincoln state. Luckily, both have quickly become accustomed to our quirky ways, and are already making an impression... even beyond filling more desks in our new space, or adding faces to our Face Off Against Hunger campaign.

Annie McCance | Web Developer

Annie McCance recently joined the Atomicdust team as a Web Developer. Annie grew up in Cuba (Illinois), but decided to head north and obtain an Art degree from Olivet Nazarene University. When she isn’t furiously working on projects here, Annie is a designer for the St. Louis live music blog, IWentToAShow.com. She also loves to draw, design, create movies and make pickles  – when the season is right, of course.

Jordan Jenkel | Account Executive

Jordan Jenkel is the newest member of the Atomicdust team. He is joining us as the new Account Executive Intern. Jordan graduated from Eastern Illinois University in May 2010 with a degree in Marketing. He recently made the move to the city from the small Southern Illinois town of Pinckneyville (yes, Pinckneyville). He also has a new favorite restaurant in the city, Everest Cafe & Bar. If anyone would like to pick up the bill, Jordan would be more than happy to join you. Whatever you do, however, don't ask him to make coffee... because he's not very good at it.

We want to welcome Annie and Jordan to the Atomicdust team!
