Atomicdust Designs New Branding and Website for Nonprofit, St. Louis BWorks

We’re proud to call the city of St. Louis home. It’s fueled by passionate people who are committed to making St. Louis a better place to live. That’s why we were thrilled to work with St. Louis BWorks to make creative matter in the community.

After 15 years in the Shaw neighborhood of St. Louis City, St. Louis BWorks was preparing to move to a new, larger location on Menard in Soulard. It was the perfect opportunity for a rebrand, including new identity, tagline, website and social media strategy.

The organization’s flagship program, St. Louis Bicycle Works, gives kids in St. Louis the chance to earn free bicycles while they learn the value of responsibility and teamwork. The kids take volunteer-led classes in bicycle maintenance and safety and, at the end of course, they receive a free bike.

In recent years the company has added new programs, including St. Louis Byte Works, which gives kids the chance to earn a computer, and St. Louis Book Works, where kids learn to create and publish their own books. All three programs are governed by St. Louis BWorks.

We spoke to several people involved with the organization, including volunteers, donors and even those who have benefitted from the program. And we discovered that the real power behind the non-profit is not simply in the bikes, computers or books they give away. It’s that they help kids see and reach for the possibilities that are at their doorstep – and beyond.

In the words of their new tagline, St. Louis BWorks programs give kids the courage and the power to Be More.

This idea became central to the look and feel of the four new websites, and will continue to drive the new content we will create for the organization. Along with designing the websites, we built them using WordPress to maximize SEO and make updates easier for volunteers to manange.

The new sites give St. Louis BWorks and its programs, Bicycle Works, Byte Works and Book Works, a clear, consistent voice that speaks to donors, volunteers and to the parents of program participants. It inspires kids and volunteers alike, and is a true reflection of the mission of the organization.
