With rumblings of a DVD release, World Events Productions decided the time was right for Voltron to make a comeback. Critical to this mission was a web-based strategy that would first return him to the hearts and minds of consumers, then place him back in the hands of consumers by promoting sales of the newly released DVD. To get the old guy back on his feet and activate fans, we yanked down the website and put up a countdown. "To what," you ask? That's what everyone wanted to know. The buzz that surrounded the event was of epic proportions, yielding over 1.5 million site visits within the first three weeks of launching. The success of the website has helped to sustain Voltron's return to glory, translating to $5.4 million in DVD sales to date. Mission accomplished.
