Gateway to the Future: A St. Louis Young Professionals Summit

Now in its third year, this half-day summit will feature noted St. Louisans who will discuss leading themes impacting St. Louis and young people today. MasterCard Masters of Code St. Louis

Coders have become the world’s newest artisans. Just as master builders were essential for the creation of a business 400 years ago, Coders are needed for everything from website creation to server maintenance and developing new in-house platforms. MasterCard’s Masters of Code competition features developers, designers and entrepreneurs using the MasterCard APIs to create prototypes to demonstrate artful coding and design skills, while articulating clear business cases. Crisis Communications: Perspectives on Race Relations

In the spirit of Diversity Awareness Month, PRSA’s October meeting will offer perspective on how our profession handles situations that are based on clashes of culture, race, lifestyle and gender. The panel discussion will be moderated by Reena Hajat Carroll, MSW, Executive Director of Diversity Awareness Partnership with panelists Denise Bentele, President of Common Ground Public Relations, Johnny Little, President of eLittle Communications Group, and social media expert Liz Sharpe-Taylor. Art:314 Silent Auction, Loud Party
8 p.m. – Midnight. at the Contemporary Art Museum
Back for a second year, CAM’s silent auction features work from more than 40 local artists. After the auction, the evening continues with a DJ, open bar, and dance party. The event benefits the Museum’s annual celebration of local artists — Open Studios STL — and the Front Room exhibition series, highlighting national emerging artists. A Walk in 1875 St. Louis
Missouri History Museum
Compton & Dry’s “Pictorial St. Louis” – drawn in 1875 and published in 1876 – is regarded as one of the most amazing city maps ever created. Using this incredibly detailed cartographic masterpiece as its backdrop, the Missouri History Museum developed A Walk in 1875 St. Louis, a 6,000 square-foot exhibition that explores the collective life of 1875 St. Louis through photographs, artifacts, news, writings and first-hand accounts of the day.
