Yurbuds, a brand of water- and sweat-proof sport earphones, expanded its national presence with a vibrant new e-commerce site.
It all began in 2011, when we designed the marketing portion of the Yurbuds site in the hopes of changing the way that athletes interact with brands online. Using parallax scroll, we enabled objects on the site to move at different rates as the user scrolled down the page, making for a more engaging, interactive experience. Bold reds and dramatic photography communicated the brand’s athleticism and sophistication.
In 2012 we went further, making for a better ordering experience by revamping the entire e-commerce experience and incorporating the cart into the site. We created a front-end design, integrated a content management system and made it easier to transfer sales to distributors. What was once a single, sectioned landing page became a complete site with dedicated pages for each Yurbuds product.
We integrated social content from Yurbuds fans into the site layout, creating a user-generated image feed that pulls from the Yurbuds Facebook page. Users can submit images for the brand’s #beyondthewall campaign and watch them appear on the site. The site also features the Yurbuds Instagram feed and social media buttons that allow visitors to share individual products on Facebook, Twitter, Google+
and Pinterest.
With athletes always on the go, it was important to create a mobile device experience that didn’t sacrifice any of the full site’s appeal. Instead of merely tweaking the standard site, we created an app-like, easy-to-navigate experience that allows visitors to swipe vertically through sections and browse pages by swiping horizontally. We also ensured that it looked great on iOS, Android and Windows phones.
The Yurbuds website was selected for the Awwwards “Site of the Day” award, and both the website and mobile site earned silver ADDYs from Ad Club St. Louis.
