Atomicdust is Looking for Talented Designers

Atomicdust is on the hunt for talented designers. As we continue to grow, we're looking for self-motivated people with strong print and web design skills who love thinking most of all. At Atomicdust, we value the ability to develop creative messaging that matters for the brands we work with, as well as the skills to visualize these ideas across various touchpoints. This role includes working on multiple projects from strategy to execution, providing design and strategic insight in a collaborative, tight-knit culture.

Please submit your resume and a sampling of work (PDF or a link to an online portfolio are preferred over mailed samples) as well as a little bit of information about why you’d be a good fit for our team to Matt Roeser at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address). No phone calls please.

Welcome Summer with a New Wallpaper from Atomicdust

After what seemed like an eternal winter (did it really snow in March?), summer finally hit St. Louis. Nowadays, afternoons are best spent poolside with sunglasses on and an iced drink in hand. But don't make the mistake of bringing your computer, smartphone or iPad out to the pool deck.... without a new background wallpaper from Atomicdust!

The creative team came up with some great June-inspired designs, so go ahead and click through, pick your favorite and mouse over the image to download. Enjoy!

Halski Studio and Atomicdust Create Unique Consumer Electronics Brand Website for Yurbuds

In our city of St. Louis, there are a lot of great creative firms. Over our 10 years in business, we’ve met a lot of creative people, and, occasionally we’ll partner with them on projects.

Halski Studio is a great St. Louis firm that does advertising, branding and photography. It’s run by design power couple Mark and Jen Halski. We ran into them for the first time in years, and brought up the idea of collaborating on a project together. We didn’t have anything particular in mind, but if the right opportunity came up, maybe we could find a way to make it happen.

What’s next for the NEXT Event?

In early 2011, Atomicdust was faced with a question: How should we follow-up on what was, by all accounts, a very successful branding and marketing campaign for Stibo System's NEXT Event?

Make it bigger and better, of course. Read more.

Throwing a Few DARTs

Let the STL Design Week festivities begin! Having missed the first night of events, we weren’t going to let a little rain (or a thunderstormpocalypse) ruin our fun. Last night, a few of us headed over to Cannon Design for a self-guided tour of their space, and then it was off to FK Photo Studios in Midtown for DART St. Louis.

At DART, you... well, you throw darts. But it’s not a bullseye you’re aiming for. You throw a dart at a virtual map of St. Louis City and become a tourist at whichever intersection you land on. You visit your block, take pictures of what you see and submit them to the DART folks for a showcase on June 1st. It’s all about experiencing new people and new places in your city, plus the donations from the event go to local charity, Rebuilding Together.

The Atomicdust crew has intersections all over St. Louis - in South City, North City, near the Central West End and Midtown - and we can’t wait to share our photos with you!

Big thanks to FK for hosting us, Schlafly for the brews and to the other event sponsors - Toky, Rebuilding Together and STL Design Week - for a great evening. To learn more about DART, check out their website. And don’t forget to check out the rest of the STL Design Week events going on in the next few days!

No joke. April’s here, and so are the wallpapers from Atomicdust

You probably spent April 1st learning about GMail Motion, gawking at the 1990s-inspired design of Hulu or searching Google in comic sans. But while you were spending the day chuckling to yourself or finding new ways to trick your co-workers and friends, the graphically-oriented folks at Atomicdust were busy making wallpapers to grace your desktops, smartphones and iPads. We've got four designs to share this month – April is the fourth month, after all – so click through to find your favorite and mouse over to download it.

St. Louis Celebrates a Week of Design

We get excited about almost anything design-related, so naturally, we are all pretty pumped about the first ever STL Design Week.

The brainchild of AIGA, STL Design Week will feature daily studio tours and evening events ‘designed to inspire.’ The events aren’t limited to just graphic design. They celebrate architecture, photography, technology, art and more.... And we love that, because not only is design our job, it is our passion.

It’s why we take field trips to places like All Along Press and the Frank Lloyd Wright House and why we spend our lunch breaks watching documentaries about graffiti. It’s why we love when members of our team take their own time to do concert photography or make slow motion puppy videos. We just love design.

This week will be a great opportunity to raise the profile of the St. Louis design community, and we're all for it. In fact, we are already clearing our schedules, hiring babysitters and setting our DVRs for that week so we don’t miss a single night of festivities.

STL Design Week is taking place April 18-23rd. To learn more about STL Design Week, the events associated with it, or how to volunteer, check out their website. You can also stay up-to-date on all the STL Design Week news by following along on Facebook or with the #STLDW tag on Twitter.

Good Morning, Matt

Matt has seen a fair share of praise for his New Cover blog across the internet, but a couple of weeks ago, his designs reached a new audience thanks to KTVI Fox 2. Matt sat down with Randi Naughton to talk about the book covers he’s designed and the big time recognition he’s received from one of his featured authors. Check out his full interview below:

You can see all of Matt's book cover designs on his New Cover blog. Keep up the good work, Matt!

It’s Time for a New Atomicdust Wallpaper

We know your February wallpapers have only been up for a measly 28 days, but it's a new month and time for a brand new wallpaper designed by the team here at Atomicdust. Mouse over the images above to download them for your desktop, smartphone and that brand new iPad 2 you've pre-ordered (or your now outdated original iPad works too).
