Atomicdust Welcomes Senior Designer Frances Foster
We’d been watching the work of designer Frances Foster for years, admiring the spirit, craftsmanship and success of her designs.
So when we had an opening on our team and she said she was interested, we jumped at the chance.
Frances (or Frankie, as she’s known around here) believes the best design needs to come from experimentation and play, but also work as well as it looks. It’s why her work goes beyond aesthetics to deliver brands that function with precision and purpose.
With a personal style that is both powerful and elegant, vintage-inspired and still contemporary, Frances prefers to start projects on paper. That way, she can clear any roadblocks between an idea occurring and taking shape. As she works, Frances builds visual systems where every choice—typography, color, material—serves a clear purpose. Strategy drives the form. The outcome feels smart and human at the same time.
Before Atomicdust, Frances held roles at several agencies and a global footwear brand before launching M.F. Foster Studio. As an independent designer, she specialized in branding, packaging and print design. She’s created beloved brands for a range of consumer packaged goods and food and beverage brands (including her brother’s business, Main and Mill Brewery—Atomicdust beer collab coming soon? We’d certainly raise a glass to that!).
Frances’ approach draws on the power of curation: skillfully weaving together colors, textures, copy, typography, vintage designs and more, to build cohesive and memorable brand experiences. Despite her artistic background (she discovered graphic design while pursuing a fine art degree), Frances thrives on structure—appreciating clear tasks and processes that help her focus her creativity.
Outside of the office, Frances explores nature and scours shops for vintage and antique finds. She often winds down by diving into astrology charts (anyone else a Taurus rising?).
At Atomicdust, Frances has dived into strategic branding and website projects that have clients raving. Fueled by carefully curated Yo La Tengo and American Analog Set playlists, she’s embraced our collaborative culture and the opportunity to work alongside fellow creatives.
Frances’ work is helping our clients break through even more. We’re thrilled she’s here.
