You can tell a lot about a university by how it speaks to its future students. And when that university sits a few blocks from your office, you feel even more connected to the story it wants to tell.
So when WashU Law (Washington University in St. Louis School of Law) asked us to create a recruitment brochure to match their refreshed website and reflect the school’s energy today, we set out to build a piece that gives students exactly what they need to picture their future—and see why WashU Law is where it begins.
Infusing motion into the message.
During the website refresh, the team at WashU Law developed a charter that reframed how they talk about legal education. It positions the law as dynamic, shaped by creativity, research and emerging technologies.
Our task was to bring that same spirit and tone into the brochure without slipping into academic formality. Prospective students want clarity. They want outcomes. But they also want a sense of community. So we wrote with intention—brief sentences, warm confidence and language that always answers what matters most to someone considering law school. Every section connects back to the student’s experience and future.
Aligning design to how readers decide.
When you’re choosing where to spend the next three years of your life—and the school that will set you up for your entire career—information matters. The brochure’s structure mirrors the way potential students think: Who will teach me? What will I learn? Where will this degree take me?
Clear sectional organization, thoughtful type hierarchy and ample white space make the content easy to scan and navigate, so prospective students leave with a clear understanding of what WashU Law offers.
The WashU shield appears as a subtle anchor throughout, grounding the piece in the broader visual identity.
Photography captures real campus moments: Faculty discussions. Students collaborating. These images add warmth and help translate the law-in-motion theme into something you can see and feel. QR codes give readers a direct path to explore programs, learn more about St. Louis or schedule a visit without breaking the flow.
The result is a piece that feels modern and unmistakably WashU—polished, intelligent and constantly in motion.
