Atomicdust Digs Deep for XGrass Branding and Website Design

It sounds a little corny, but one of the great joys of working in marketing and design is learning about a wide range of industries. That’s why we were so intrigued when XGrass approached us to help establish a bold look and brand voice for their new website.

XGrass is a nationwide company that sells artificial turf, rubber surfaces, court tile and mulch. None of us had ever given much thought to artificial grass, much less how to sell it.

The first thing we learned as we dove in is that this is a very competitive field (no pun intended), dominated by a few big players who generally sell the same products in exactly the same way. Sites typically feature big, green photos on dark backgrounds, with an unrelenting emphasis on technical specs and specific products.

XGrass challenged us to create an audience- and application-centric website that would take them beyond grass, rubber and tile toward specific applications – for example, commercial playgrounds, home landscapes or athletic facilities. Because, as it turns out, that’s how real people shop.

This gave us a natural platform to sell the company’s talented, creative staff and commitment to service. The company’s core promise is to deliver everything their customers, be they homeowners or professionals, need.

Each page is a demonstration of this promise, using carefully selected photography, descriptive copy and just enough technical detail to prove expertise.

Most importantly, every page features a clear path to action.

Right from the start, we built the site to be flexible, so as the company grows and adds applications and products, as they complete new projects and hire new people, they can add content to the site on their own. We built the website using WordPress, so it’s a snap to add new copy and photos on any page.

The website is also responsive, so it’s fast, functional and attractive no matter what size screen or type of device customers use. It looks great on the desktop, of course, but also delivers an informative, immersive experience on a tablet or mobile phone.

The site has only been live for a couple of weeks, but is already earning praise — including from our client, Marketing Director Jaimie Palmer.

“The team at Atomicdust did an amazing job on the re-launch of our company website. We were impressed with their ability to creatively translate all our needs into a practical yet stylish online tool. They have delivered a website that is superior in aesthetics and functionality to others in our industry. High fives for the Atomicdust team!”
